Swatches of four Shiro eyeshadows

Just a few more samples I've collected from Shiro Cosmetics! Each baggie holds SO much product - I always transfer them to jars and they almost fill 3g jars.

I heard about Detective (from the Death Note collection) and was super excited. Taupe with blue duochrome? Must have! But I wanted to wait until I had seen swatches, and the blog posts I saw had very different opinions on whether or not Detective is a true duochrome. So finally I just ordered the sample ($1, instead of a $3 mini or $5 full jar).

Well, Detective is and isn't a duochrome. It's very subtle, with scattered color-changing particles. The base color is a golden taupe and with the pale blue and silver sheen, it comes off pretty cool-toned. I do like it, for sure, but it's not as dramatic as I had hoped the color shift would be.

The camera picks up the blue sparkles as glitter, not so much as a duochrome. But in natural lighting in person, you can see a bit of a color shift.

More Sugar, also from the Death Note collection, is described as "creamy shimmer in a rich coffee base." This is a beautiful plummy taupe with multi-colored shimmer and a satin finish. It was actually my free sample, and I'm really pleased with it!

You can just see a bit of the red, green, and blue glitter in More Sugar - it's not too over-the-top, it's more toned down glitter.

Then, I ordered some samples for an upcoming giveaway, and received Articuno and Mewtwo samples free (both from the Super Effective collection).

These are not the most exciting Shiro colors (to me anyway), but they are the same fantastic quality I've come to expect from Shiro.

Articuno is described as "pale, powdery silver-blue with plenty of shimmer and sparkle." That is a really accurate description IMO!

Mewtwo's description is "sheer, shimmery, medium purple with blue tones." I'm not sure I'd really call it sheer ... maybe over bare skin, but then most mineral shadows are sheer on bare skin! It is a cool-toned darkish purple with some multi-colred shimmer.

I love Shiro, and collecting Pokeball-stickered jars (I order extra stickers and put them on all the colors, not just the Pokemon ones)! The next collection that will be released is based on The Hunger Games and the sneak peek looks gorgeous. I still want some lippies and perfumes from Shiro, too ^_^;

  1. I love Shiro! They were the first Indie brand I ordered from, and they are consistently awesome.sometimes I wonder why I ever buy mainstream eyeshadow when Shiro has such awesome $1 samples.
